When my brand new water cup got dumped into a sink full of water by the housekeeper, I was bummed. The cup had a paper insert that read This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad. I thought the paper was too wet to salvage.
I knew the housekeeper was innocent. But I couldn’t shake the sadness, so I made my peace. I could live with disappointment. This acceptance gave me (and the paper insert) some breathing room.
Once the insert dried out, I received an idea to make a paper pattern from brown paper. I’ve been collaging inserts for my water cup ever since.
The inspiration glory goes to being with all of me. It wasn’t always this way. I was clueless how to navigate the messy world of emotions.
This year, my only resolution is to be where I’m at.
Collage helps. Journaling helps.
Let the art-making begin.
